Cant say - ? U remember.. Ur FDs? 10 yrs, 15 yrs, 20 yrs. Investment plans.. those Loans... next years promotion? next to next years hike? the provident fund? the retirement benefits?
What all do you think would you see closing?
I can only see the now - and while I will still save for future, let me make a pledge. I will not lose the present? Any takers for the thought?

ReplyDeletewell, on a serious note..its true..we keep on saving for the rainy day...and when the rain actually comes, the money which we have saved is of no use...
we need to ensure that we enjoy the smallest happiness that comes in our way... celebrate the tiniest occasion..and be happy so that we dont regret of loosing what we never got!!
Well said! I believe, its all about the balance.. whether to seek pleasure in the present and avoid pain of the future.. or to ignore the present experience and chase that ever-elusive future.
ReplyDeleteIn contrast to the western world, where life is all about satisfying ones immediate desires, majority of our Indian society adopts to the "future" path, sacrificing all their Awake time for a future which they are not quite sure of witnessing. In this context, isn't it correct to call it "learned helplessness"? - a trait that we acquire from our surroundings, by default.
In my opinion, we gotta learn to avoid both these extremes.. and choose a middle path - experience pleasures of the present while having a meaning for the future!
